Jacques Lussier is Co-Founder, CIO of IPSOL Capital. Jacques is responsible for IPSOL’s investment strategies across asset classes and, with the IPSOL’s Head of Research, sets the research agenda for the firm. Prior to cofounding IPSOL, Jacques was Chief Investment Strategist at Desjardins Global Asset Management where he worked for 18 years. At Desjardins, Jacques led the firm’s efforts in areas such as portfolio policy and global asset allocation for institutional clients, funds of funds management, both alternatives and traditional, research leading to product design and product management in the equity, commodity, and asset allocation space as well as management of high net worth platforms. Jacques started his career as an academician at HEC Montreal.
Jacques earned a B.A. in Economics and M.Sc. in Finance from HEC Montreal and a Ph.D. in International Business from the University of South Carolina. He is a CFA charterholder and Past-President of CFA Society Montreal (2013-2015). Jacques is a member of the CFA Research Foundation Regional Research Council – Americas and he continues his implication through the production of research and educational material on behalf of CFA Montreal and CFA Institute. He is a board member of the $57 billion pension fund, Retraite Québec, Chair of its investment committee and member of the audit committee. He is also a member of the advisory board of InvestorLit and the author of the book “Successful Investing Is A Process” published by Wiley and Bloomberg Press in 2012. Jacques co-authored with Hugues Langlois “Rational Investing – The Subtleties of Asset Management”, a non-technical book that gives an overview of the current state of practice and academic research in asset management. The book will be published by Columbia University Press in March 2017.

Guy Desrochers is Co-Founder and Vice-President Finance & Chief Compliance Officer at IPSOL Capital. He is responsible for all administrative, financial, and accounting aspects of the firm’s operations. He also oversees all facets of risk management and the implementation of IPSOL’s compliance policies. Prior to IPSOL, Guy was Senior VP of Global Equities at CIBC Global Asset Management where he led a team of 30 investment professionals managing $16 billion in AUM. During his 30 year career, Guy was also a CIO at Hydro-Quebec’s pension plan and led a team of traders at National Bank of Canada offering risk management services to corporate clients for currencies, rates, and commodities.
Guy has B.A. in Economics from Sherbrooke University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), a member of the Global Association of Risk Professionals –Financial Risk Manager (FRM), and a member of the Chartered Alternative Investment Analysts Association (CAIA). He also earned a certificate in Corporate Governance (ASC) from Laval University. Finally, Guy is a member of the investment committee of the pension fund at the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) of Québec and previously held similar roles for Laval and McGill University pension plans. He is a member of the AMF’s newly created Derivatives Advisory Committee.

Hugues Langlois is Co-Founder and Director of Research at IPSOL Capital. Hugues, in cooperation with IPSOL’s CIO, sets the research agenda for the firm. He also oversees the research effort and the research team. Hugues is based in Paris and is an Assistant Professor of Finance at HEC Paris, one of the world's top ranked business schools. Prior to IPSOL, Hugues was a portfolio manager with Desjardins Global Asset Management from 2007 to 2013. He developed and managed the asset allocation engine used for their institutional clients, a hedge fund replication product, and did advanced research for the development of efficient equity protocols.
Hugues received a M.Sc. in financial engineering from HEC Montreal and a Ph.D. in finance from McGill University. He has published in the Review of Financial Studies and in the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis. His work on return asymmetries was awarded the 2015 Crowell First Prize from PanAgora Asset Management. Hugues co-authored “Rational Investing – The Subtleties of Asset Management”, a short and non-technical book that gives an overview of the current state of practice and academic research in asset management. The book will be published by Columbia University Press in March 2017. Hugues is also the co-creator of an introductory Massive Online Open Course on asset management in which are enrolled more than 9,000 learners across 157 countries..

Bruce Grantier retired in 2008 after 16 years at Scotiabank, where he was, for the past nine, Managing Director, Pension Assets. Previously he was Chief Strategist and head of Fixed-Income for Scotia Investment Management Ltd.
He earned his BASc (Industrial Engineering) at the University of Toronto and MBA (Dean’s List) at York University. He is a CFA and CAIA charter holder and is a certified director of the Institute of Corporate Directors.
Memberships include: Brandes Institute Advisory Board, Toronto CFA Society Board of Directors -plus Senior Advisor of Portfolio Management Committee, Benefits and Pension Monitor Advisory Board, Catholic Cemeteries and Funeral Services Board -Archdiocese of Toronto, Granite Club Pension Committee Member, IPSol Investment Management Chair of Board, and Archdiocese of Toronto Investment Advisory Committee.

Bruce Grantier, CFA, CAIA
Former Managing Director, Pension Assets, Scotiabank
For 6 years, as CEO of Desjardins Asset Management, Gérard Guilbault was responsible for the investment management of more than $51B of assets, and member of Desjardins Group Strategic Management, Asset Liability Management and Integrated Risk Management committees. Mr. Guilbault was also responsible for the A/L management for Desjardins insurance subsidiaries.
Mr. Guilbault joined Desjardins in 1988 as Vice-president Financial Markets at Desjardins Trustco. He then occupied several other positions such as Vice-president Financial Markets for both Desjardins Financial Security and Opvest. For 5 years, Mr. Guilbault worked for Domtar, where he held the position of Managing Director - Pension Investments for 3 years.
He earned his BAA at HEC Montreal in 1980. He is a CFA Charter holder since 1982, and earned the ASC designation (certified board director) from Director College Laval University.
Current memberships include: Fondation Lucie et André Chagnon, Optimum VIE S.A. France, Laval University Pension Fund and Real Estate committees, Quebec’s Pharmacists Association Responsibility Insurance Funds and National Bank of Canada Retirement Committee.

Gérard Guilbault, CFA, C.Dir
Former Chief Executive Officer, Desjardins Asset Management
Mr. Fahey was NAV CANADA’s Vice President, Pension Investments from September 2010 until January 2016. In this role, he led a team that was responsible for designing and executing the investment strategy and controlling the risk associated with NAV CANADA’s defined benefit pension plans. Since his retirement from NAV CANADA he has continued to devote time to the volunteer sector and various investment management activities.
Prior to joining NAV CANADA, Mr. Fahey was a founder and managing partner with Aurion Capital Management, a Toronto based institutional investment counseling firm. In this role he was responsible for all aspects of fixed income portfolio management for Aurion’s institutional clients. He was also a member of Aurion’s senior team responsible for strategic direction and firm management. Prior to joining Aurion in 1994, Mr. Fahey was the Vice President, Fixed Income at Barclays McConnell, a Toronto based institutional investment manager.
Mr. Fahey holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill University and a Masters of Business Administration degree from Concordia University. He also is a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder. He has also served as a member of the executive committee of the Toronto CFA Society and on the CFA Institute’s Presidents Council.
